More About Benedict
Benedict Kargbo Jr., son of immigrant father Dr. Benedict Kargbo Sr., is a native of the DMV and has resided in Reno, Nevada, for the past 10 years. He is currently a student at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), pursuing his Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADAC) credential.
With over four years of experience in the mental health and substance abuse field, Benedict combines extensive lived experience with professional training. He is a Certified Peer Support Specialist Supervisor, a State Certified Community Health Worker I, and a trained Behavioral Health Technician through continuing education and professional certificate programs. Additionally, he is a Basic Life Support Instructor certified through the Red Cross Foundation and a Certified Medication Technician through Beacon Hill Career Training.
Benedict has made significant contributions to his community, including assisting in the development of the Hope Springs tiny home community, where he worked alongside therapists, psychologists, and other professionals to guide individuals toward healthier, more stable lives. His role extended beyond encouragement—he served as a caseworker, connecting residents to vital resources and assisting graduates in obtaining housing and funding. He also worked with Volunteers of America and partnered with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department Hope Squad to support individuals experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges.
Outside of his professional and educational pursuits, Benedict enjoys going to the movie theater and practicing his skills in barbering, where he finds both relaxation and creativity.

“The starting point of all achievement is Desire.”
