First-line treatments are the preferred initial treatments providers use for a mental or physical health condition. For example, behavioral therapy and antidepressants are generally considered the first-line treatment options for moderate to severe depression and most anxiety disorders. Many people respond to these treatments well. Others do not find them effective, only get partial relief, or have side effects that are too intolerable for them to continue.
This is not so uncommon. “Treatment-resistant” cases are often not treatment-resistant at all. Typically, it just means that a person will respond best to something else. That’s why we offer a range of additional, research-backed treatments for people seeking care for dual diagnosis near Lake Tahoe. For example, we offer TMS, which is a highly effective treatment for people with depression who have failed at least two antidepressant medication trials. It also treats concerns like anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and smoking cessation.
That’s just the beginning. We offer an extensive range of other treatments, including but not limited to eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), internal family systems (IFS), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), art therapy, music therapy, and sound therapy. No two people are exactly alike. Having a team of professionals who specialize in different therapies and mind-body supports, like massage, IV therapy, and personal training, makes truly personalized treatment possible.
At our dual-diagnosis treatment center in Nevada, you will work with your assigned therapist to create a treatment plan that targets your holistic needs. During the intake process, we’ll ask questions about your previous treatment experiences (if applicable). We’ll ask what helped, and we encourage you to tell us what didn’t. We prioritize informed consent and collaboration to help people get the kind of addiction and mental health care they need.
