More About Brandon

Brandon Cassinelli is a 5th generation Nevadan and a Reno native.  He hails from a family of public servants and spent 15 years with the City of Reno in a first responder capacity.  He obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada in Human Development and Family Studies in 2015, followed by his Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2019.  He received his licensure to practice marriage and family counseling from the State of Nevada in September of 2019, is a Nationally Certified Counselor and is a practicing therapist intern to this day.

While working with the City of Reno, he helped establish a position titled “Embedded Resource Officer”, a full-time role directed toward stigma reduction mental health service treatment for first responders.  Prior to retiring from public service he engaged deeply in one-to-one & group peer support efforts, wellness trainings, de-escalation briefings and community behavioral health project management.  He was also a critical incident negotiator for over 10 years and has performed many successful de-escalations with suicidal people in mental health crisis.

Brandon’s approach to mental health treatment is grounded in Existential Psychotherapy and seeks to aid individuals in their journey to discover greater meaning and motivation in their lives.  To practice his own mental health; when he isn’t working he enjoys writing, narrating audiobooks, reading about metaphysics and 3D printing.

It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.
