More About Michelle

Michelle Johnson is a proud native of Nevada, born and raised in Las Vegas, and now a passionate member of the Reno community. With nearly ten years of professional experience in the mental health and substance use recovery field, Michelle brings a powerful combination of lived experience, professional training, and a deep commitment to helping others find their own paths to healing and self-empowerment.

Her work is grounded in compassion and connection, rooted in both personal journey and years of hands-on service. As a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist Supervisor and a State Certified Community Health Worker II, Michelle has supported countless individuals in navigating complex systems and overcoming barriers to recovery. Her experience in Case Management adds a critical layer to her skill set, allowing her to coordinate care, provide individualized support, and advocate effectively for her clients across multiple service areas—including behavioral health, housing, justice involvement, and healthcare access.

Michelle is also an active and visible presence in the recovery community, offering peer support, mentorship, and encouragement to others walking their own journeys. Whether through group facilitation, one-on-one support, or program development, she is a tireless advocate for recovery in all its forms—recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach, and that every individual deserves to be heard, respected, and supported on their terms.

When she’s not working, Michelle enjoys spending quality time with close friends and the family she has built in Reno. Her life and work are grounded in authenticity, service, and hope—and she continues to inspire and uplift those around her through both her story and her commitment to change.
