At our Chico drug and alcohol rehab center, we offer a wide variety of evidence-based and holistic treatment options. From Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to holistic therapies like mindfulness, we offer a range of treatment options. Other options include:

A variety of factors go into determining which treatment options may be right for you. From the type of substance you are addicted to to the severity and duration of your addiction, each of these factors contributes to how long your recovery may likely be, and which treatments may be right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a co-occurring disorder?

A co-occurring disorder is when a person is struggling with both a mental illness and a substance use disorder at the same time. For example, an alcoholic who is also struggling with unresolved trauma can be considered to be struggling with a co-occurring disorder.

These conditions are deeply interconnected: mental health struggles can drive substance use, and substance use can worsen mental health. At The Differents, we provide integrated dual-diagnosis treatment that addresses both conditions simultaneously. Treating only one without the other is rarely effective. In other words, failure to treat one condition but not the other can greatly increase your risk of relapse. This is why it is critical that if you suspect you may be struggling with a dual diagnosis, you seek professional help for both conditions.

What happens during the detox process?

Detoxification is the first phase of recovery for most patients and involves clearing all drugs or alcohol from your system. During this time, it is common to experience withdrawal symptoms, which can include nausea, sweating, mood changes, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping. The intensity and duration of these symptoms vary depending on the substance and how long you have been using it. Typically, the detoxification process can take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks before you start to see improvement in withdrawal symptoms, and can progress to learning healthy coping strategies.

At The Differents, our medical team supervises detox closely to keep you safe. Depending on the severity of your addiction, detoxing can be dangerous. This is why it is critical to seek professional support when it comes to overcoming addiction.

Will I know which treatment program is right for me before I arrive?

You do not need to figure that out on your own. When you first connect with our team, we take time to understand your full situation: the nature of your addiction, how long it has been present, your mental and physical health history, and your personal goals. From there, we recommend the program and level of care that best fits your needs — whether that is partial hospitalization, outpatient treatment, or another combination of services. You will never be placed into a program that does not suit you. This is why we offer a variety of treatment options and programs to ensure patients receive the right care for their needs.
