The Differents offers multiple levels of outpatient care, which vary in intensity and time commitment. However, one of the things that makes The Differents unique is that we offer living arrangements for clients who need housing while they attend care. We are located in Nevada, near the great outdoors of Sierras and Lake Tahoe. Clients seeking high-quality substance abuse treatment in Bay Area or nearby may choose to live on-site while in their treatment program at The Differents. Even for clients who live closer, sober living can sometimes be powerful or necessary. Not only does it mean that you won’t have to commute to treatment every day, but you’ll also have a 100% drug- and alcohol-free space to heal.
Many treatment centers do not give clients their own room, which can be uncomfortable. The Differents has single-occupancy suites with private bathrooms available to clients at our luxury treatment center. Clients at The Differents have access to on-site recreation, a gym, relaxing spaces, a full variety of meals, and so much more.
Our programs vary in intensity and are completely customizable based on a client’s needs. Your daily treatment schedule will be determined during the admissions process and can be modified as needed throughout your program. Clients living on-site must attend a minimum of twelve hours of groups and at least one individual therapy session per week. With that in mind, here is a little bit about what to expect in each level of care or treatment option offered at The Differents.
Getting off of drugs and alcohol can come with uncomfortable and potentially dangerous withdrawal symptoms. Our withdrawal management program is designed to detoxify your body and help you discontinue the use of substances safely. Throughout the process, you will experience the utmost privacy and benefit from 24/7 medical supervision from staff. Withdrawal management or detox is short-term and generally functions as a precursor to another level of care.
Partial hospitalization is the most intensive variation of outpatient care. Also called PHP or partial day treatment, our partial hospitalization programs offer the support of an inpatient program, but clients return home or our sober living spaces after treatment each day. Partial hospitalization consists of a rich selection of groups, recreation, meditation and journaling, skill-building opportunities, and at least one individual therapy session per week. Additional individual therapy sessions are available upon request. Fun activities like movie and game nights, arts and crafts, music, sports, and hiking give clients an opportunity to build an extraordinary sober life for themselves. If you live on-site, this may be considered residential inpatient.

Intensive outpatient is one step below partial hospitalization. The main distinction between an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and partial hospitalization is the time commitment. IOP requires fewer treatment hours per week, but clients will still attend regular groups, individual therapy sessions, and other treatments or activities outlined in their personal treatment plan.
Aftercare sets you up for success post-treatment. The Differents offers a range of aftercare services, including but not limited to referrals for providers in your area who can help you continue getting care and support, virtual peer groups, and relapse prevention biometric wearables.
